In this paper, a new particle size distribution measuring method using a LUZEX image analyzer is described. This methed is effective even for measuring coagulated powder. Though many kinds of image analyzing systems have been applied to measure particle sizes and shapes for twenty years, it has been possible to measure only particles of good distribution, that is, particles without aggregation and flocculation. In this new method structual description and inference of particle patterns are used, and some experimental results are shown to illustrate the usefulness of the method for the measurement of badly distributed particles.
