This report is the concerned with an method for the approximate calculation of the path of a solid particle which impacts an obstacle, such as an inertial dust collector, or a Pitot tube which is installed on the wall.
This obstacle is represented by a flat plate. A discrete-vortex method is used to simulate the flow around the flat plate.
It is important for approximate calculation to estimate the flow near the flat plate. The path of the solid particle is calculated near the wall, and is approximated from the path which is estimated from the potential flow.
Time-dependent flow which can be observied near the re-attachment point varies very little from the path of the solid particle.
