For the compression process with deformation of a particle, a new compression equation has been derived by combining Rumpf's equation and Hiramatsu's equation. The Rempf's equation can estimate the relationship between compressive stress and the force acting on a contact point between particles. Hiramatsu's equation gives the relationship between the compressive force and the tensile strength of a particle. The newly derived compression equation contains a tensile strength term for each particle that the bed consists of. When this equation is applied to the compression process, the tensile strength of a particle can be estimated, but the strain of a single particle during compressing should previously be estimated or measured.
It was shown that the Kawakita's equation was derived from the new compression equation with some assumptions. A constant, 1/b, in the Kawakita's equation has been considered to be correlated with the tensile strength of a particle.
It was shown in this investigation that the tensile strength of a particle was proportional to the constant, 1/b, under the condition that the strain was constant during the compression process.
