Wide distribution in contact angle of bridging liquid between primary particles is commonly observed in a spherical agglomerate of particles prepared by a wet method. The present work experimentally investigated the cause of wide distribution through the measurement of contact angles of bridging liquid droplets on a plate made of melted primary particles immersed in disperse medium. The contact angle of bridging liquid droplets on the plate exhibited hysteresis during the advancement and recession of contact line, and the contact angle during recession was in agreement with the contact angle of bridging liquid measured in the agglomerates. These results suggest that the contact angle of bridging liquid in the agglomerate is altered by the hysteresis, causing a wide distribution in contact angle of bridging liquid.
