This study investigates whether smartphone dependency, which has recently become a problem, is associated with self-perception of usage or actual log data. The results showed that while actual number of launches were little related to smartphone dependency, perceptions of usage of app that require only a short time per use were significantly associated with, such as LINE and SNS. However, simultaneously it also demonstrated that users with a high weekly smartphone use had an increased sense of dependence compared to low of that. This study provides further insight into measuring smartphone dependence by self-reported scores.
