Power Generation by Reverse Electrodialysis Stack Using Profiled Ion Exchange Membranes with Novel Concave-Convex Pattern

In this study, we compared the power generation performance of reverse electrodialysis (RED) stacks using flat ion exchange membranes (IEMs) and novel profiled (PF) IEMs with a constant thickness and an uneven structure. Compared to the flat IEMs, the PF IEMs showed a 31 ％ decrease in the internal resistance of the RED stack and a 40 ％ increase in the maximum power density, with a value of 1.4 W/m2.
