A case of orbital cellulitis subsequently occurring due to odontogenic sinusitis is reported. A 24-yearold male was admitted to our hospital complaining of severe pain and swelling of the right orbital region.
The patient was unable to open his right eye and had diplopia and hypoesthesia in the right maxillary region. On radiographic examination, cystic radiolucent area of the right upper molar region and increased radiopacity on the right maxillary sinus indicated odontogenic sinusitis. Computed tomography showed exophthalmus and inflammation of the maxillary and ethmoid sinuses extending to the orbit. The inflammatory symptoms, including exophthalmus and diplopia, were improved by the systemic antibiotic administration of PAPM / BP and tooth extraction of the right upper second and third molars without complication.
