There are 91 danchi, which have been located on low relief hill land, in the northern and southwestern environs of Sendai. In additior, danchi have been constructed in the neighboring cities such as Izumi and Natori. Since 1965, 21 estates have been constructed and the area utilized was 1, 709.5ha., this areal increase is remarkable when compared with the total area of 4, 009.8ha. Most of these danchi are in the 20-35 minute area by bus service from Sendai Railroad Station. As a result, traffic congestion on National Highway No. 4 has increased and, thus, a N-S subway has had to be planned.
