Abstract
Of biological and chemical methods for determining epinephrine or adrenaline, the toad leg vessels, the rabbit ear vessels, the rabbit intestine segment, the cat paradoxical pupil reaction, the blood pressure of pithed dog, the colorimetrical method of Suto-Kojima and Kodama's modification of Folin, Cannon and Denis' clorimetrical method, the minimum amount or concentration detectable by each method, the optimum or the nearest to it, and the limits of error occurring are given in the text of the present paper. The biological methods except the rabbit intestine segment method are performed by the injection of a certain amount of the standard solution of a given concentration with a certain velocity into the preparation, accordingly the data here given in the text cannot be applied directly, that is without modification, to the same method employed by other experimentalists, unless the above related experimental conditions are wholly the same as those given in the text. However, since there are seemingly not such excessive variations in the methods, as they are practised in other laboratories, the data given in the present report may give some suggestion as to the sensibility of the methods under discussion in general.
