Young rabbits were either fed on non-B-deficit food or on B-avitaminotic food. To them methyl glyoxal was administered intravenously or perorally. And the result was that an enlargement of the heart was due much more to methyl glyoxal itself than to B-avitaminotic food. Then an explanation of the controversy between different results obtained by different authors concerning the heart enlargement was tried. By way of appendix, it has been shown that the vitamin B has an effect to prevent a heart enlarging effect of methyl glyoxal.
