Abstract
The suprarenal glands of dogs normal as well as those prepared with the cava pocket under ether anaesthesia, were extracted according to the procedure of Folin, Cannon and Denis, liquid air being used for pulverizing and mixing the tissue. The epinephrine content was measured by means of the rabbit intestine segment method, the rabbit ear vessel method and the colorimetrical method of Suto-Kojima. Adrenaline hydrochloride of Sankyo Co. was taken as the standard. The previous data of Aomura was taken in comparison with that of the present.
The rabbit intestine segment method gives somewhat greater value than any of the other methods; the paradoxical cat pupil method and the Suto-Kojima method give the lowest, and those by both coincide well with each other. Intermediate values are obtainable by the rabbit ear vessel method and the Folin-Cannon-Denis method.
