Abstract
Estimating the blood sugar by Bang's method and taking every possible precaution against disturbing factors, the normal blood sugar level of the dog varies within the limits of 0.08-0.12%, not only in different individuals, but also in the blood of one and the same individual at different times. The variations within these limits must be considered as a physiological occurrence, if they do not take any definite tendency or direction. The normal level of the blood sugar of the dog does not undergo an annual variation.
A reliable method for the collection of a large volume of blood samples in the perfectly normal state is to deprive the body region of the sensibility, -where the blood vessel lies, from which blood samples are to be collected, -by the division of the dorsal spinal roots for that region.
