Abstract
The suprarenal vein blood was collected from the dogs in the conditions as physiological as possible, and its epinephrine content was determined by means of the rabbit intestine segment.
Morphine hydochloride was injected into a saphena vein in dose of 8mg per kg of body weight in 30 seconds.
Interference with the splanchnic nerves totally abolishes the augment-ing action of morphine upon the epinephrine output rate from the gland on that side.
Double splanchnicotomy nearly totally abolishes the appearance of hyperglycemia due to morphine, while the depressant action of morphine upon the arterial blood pressure does not suffer therefrom.
