1. Aqueous extracts of both gastric carcinoma and normal gastric mucosa inhibited the mechanical activity of gill cilia of the oyster, and the ciliary inhibition of the former was definitely stronger than that of the latter. 2. The substances responsible for the ciliary inhibition passed through a cellophane membrane almost entirely in 24 hours of dialysis against sea water.
