In 1037 cases of stomach cancer who survived subtotal gastrectomy at the authors' department, the relations between various pathologic as well as clinical aspects of stomach cancer and the end-results were analyzed. Of the factors studied, the extent of the extragastric spread of carcinoma was the most closely related to the longevity of patients, while the nature of the primary tumor less faithfully indicated the prognosis. The authors' P. C. classification, a grading for the extent of peritoneal dissemination, was proved to be a good measure of the prognosis and it was emphasized that the omenta should be extensively excised on the radical surgery for stomach cancer.
