右大脳半球損傷に伴う構成障害に対する言語化訓練の効果

This study analyzes the outcome and effectiveness of a specific application of verbalization training with a patient suffering from constructional disorder resulting from damage to the right cerebral hemisphere. The procedure initially involves assessment of visual-spatial agnosia in a cube construction task. If it is found that agnosia interferes with the construction process, training in visual cognition is commenced. Following improvement in visual-spatial agnosia, verbalization training is implemented. This involves the therapist guiding the patient in explanation of dimensions of the cube construction task. The patient is required to describe specific features of the task-figure, and to then reconstruct it (without reference to the task-figure) describing each stage of the construction process. Findings based on two case studies of patients exhibiting right cerebral hemisphere deficits suggest that the application of this specific approach to verbalization training improves the speed and efficiency of the cube construction task.
