吸入試験におけるエアロゾル発生法の重要性

Inhalation Toxicology Research Center, Korea Institute of Toxicology (KIT) is Korea leading certified GLP authority in area of the inhalation toxicity that has a leading-edge technology, facilities and human infrastructure for the inhalation toxicology study, inhalation drug delivery system, and development of new inhaled drug. In this presentation, we introduce the superiority methods for aerosol generation in Inhalation Toxicology Research Center. It is important to establish aerosol generation methods according to the characteristics and purpose of the test articles that are classified into four forms (gas, mist, dust, and fumigant). We have accumulated expertise for aerosol generation methods with a variety of test articles. The first, gas; we have a scientific techniques for gasification technology through the control of oxygen and carbon oxide levels. Second, dust; we can reduced test articles consumption and concentration deviation within ±10% (guideline=±20%) compared to the previous dust generation method using self-developed dust generator. The dust generator can also stably maintain high concentration of dust articles. Third, mist; we can stably generate test articles in the suspension state using self-developed mist generator. Chamber concentration of the exposed aerosol was handled immediately via well-establish analysis techniques (GC, LC etc). It is considered that rapid (about two weeks) and accurate technical establishment of generation methods for various test articles can benefices support the saving time and cost for evaluation of toxicity and efficacy studies, as well as development of inhaled drug.
まとめ:吸入試験における試験物質のエアロゾル発生は、吸入毒性および効能評価のみならず吸入製剤開発のための時間や経費を節減に影響を与える主な要因として減迅速かつ正確な発生法確立のため専門技術と経験が必ず必要!
