Load/Unload to Ship Capacity Ratio of Containerized Cargo on Each Sea Route at Japanese Ports

Abstract

To make the development plan of container terminal, estimation on frequencies of ship calling on each sea routes is essential. In this case, average TEU capacity of calling ships and load/unload volume of containerized cargo per calling are needed. But the past analysis on this field is very little. Based on this condition, this report grasps load/unload volume of containerized cargo and load/unload to ship capacity ratio on each sea route at Japanese ports. Load/unload to ship capacity ratio is defined as the ratio of volume of containerized cargo per calling to two times of TEU capacity of calling ships. Furthermore, based on the calculation results, a rough standard about load/unload to ship capacity ratio are considered.
