Abstract
According to Plotinus (205-270), to attain to "the union with the One", one must first awaken to the consciousness of the intelligible world through "purification" from the desires and emotions of the sensible world. "Dialectic" is also important for deepening the awareness of the intelligible world. However, the true beings of the intelligible world have pluralities, so, those who seek the ultimate origin of all beings must let go even of the truth of the intelligible world. When one throws himself completely in this way, one attaints to the union with the One. The One is beyond cognition and language, but one who is united with the One can directly know what the One is to other beings by reflecting on his own state of being one with the One. It can be said that this is an activity that is consistent with the activity of the One that generates intellect by reflecting on oneself. In addition, what is directly known in this way is logically explained and expressed in words by being reinterpreted by discursive thinking and physical sense.
