Abstract
This paper is an attempt of sociological case study in life history and thought of an individual person who has lived as a famer in Nakata town, Tome city in Miyagi Prefecture. The method of "kikigatari", coined by Higashi as a way of finding fact and meaning in the words of the actor, is adopted here. The history of the rural community and agricultural issues appears then as experiences of the personʼs conflicts with situations, and his thought shows significant alternatives.
