DVD read only format (DVD video and DVD-ROM) has been agreed upon by 10 companies as of Dec. 8th of 1995. One of the uniqueness that DVD has is that a file format is specified in the DVD specification Book. This paper tries to explain the necessity & its effect of having the file format specified in the specification Book.
