In the patients with hyperthyroidism, increased urinary excretion of intravenously administered thiamine was observed. It was concluded that this did not result from liver and adrenal dysfunctions, but directly from hyperthyroidism, because these patients had no or slight liver and adrenal dysfunctions. In liver and kidney of the rat, injected with thyroid preparation everyday, the content of cocarboxylase decreased and that of free thiamine increased. Therefore the ratio of thiamine phosphorylation fell in the tissue of the rat injected with thyroid preperation.
