Abstract
Decreases in both soluble and mitochondrial enzyme activities in vitamin B_6-deficient rat liver were observed on alanine and aspartate amino transferases. Rat liver mitochondria subjected to both vitamin B_6-and choline-deficiency resulted in marked decrease in a respiratory control, whereas only vitamin B_6-deficiency did not altered the mitochondrial respiration. In analyses of liver mitochondrial lipids, decreases in arachidonic acid and phosphatidylethanolamine were observed in vitamin B_6-and choline-deficiencies, respectively. Low content of phosphatidylethanolamine in both vitamin B_6-and cholinedeficient rat liver might bring about an alteration to mitochodrial function.
