From the results of experiment on acyl carrier protein of Escherichia coli origin added to the rat liver sample, it was presumed that the similar type of acyl carrier protein was not proved in the rat liver. However, CoA content in rat liver supernatant provided by homogenization with 3% perchloric acid solution was estimated up to larger amount than that in similar supernatant produced by extraction with boiling water. On the contrary the total pantothenic acid level in the former sample was remarkably lower than in the latter. Moreover, in the precipitate produced by the treatment with perchloric acid, pantothenic acid was demonstrated after mild hydrolysis by alkaline. From above mentioned results, the posibility of the existence of acyl carrier protein-like substance in rat liver was concluded.
