Abstract
It has been observed that H_20_2-induced hemolysis ratio is very dependent on the temperature of reaction mixture and is not very correlative with the content of vitamin E in the blood. In order to find more available reagents than H_20_2,firstly various inorganic reagents were tested to see wheather they specifically hemolyze vitamin E-deficient erythrocyte, and then following facts were observed. KI0_3. NaI0_4,Se0_2,FeS0_4,Mo03,CoS0_4 and Ag_2S0_4 were effective under certain condition. However Se02' FeS04' M003' CoS04 and Ag2S04 Were practically unavailable, whereas KI0_3 and NaI0_4 were seemed to be available and the mutual correlation were observed between the hemolysis ratio induced by these reagents and the amount of vitamin E in the serum of new born infant : the correlation coefficients were -0.62 and -0.75 respectively, which values were larger than that between H_20_2 and vitamin E, -0.44. Then, the hemolysis test using KI0_3,NaI0_4 is expected to be useful as a simple biological assay procedure of vitamin E in man. (Received June 3,1972)
