Abstract
The absorption of orally administered pyridoxal phosphate (PALP), pyridoxal (PAL) and pyridoxine (PIN) was investigated by means of anticonvulsant effect against the 100% convulsant dose of 2-methyl-4-amino-5-hydroxymethylpyrimidine (OMP) and thiosemicarbazide (TSC) injected subcutaneously in mice. It was found that the absorption of PALP was better and more rapidly than that of PIN, but was much the same as PAL. The strongest anticonvulsant effect of PALP, PAL and PIN against the OMP convulsion were 3 to 4 times as high as TSC. From these results, the absorption of PALP are discussed.
