Abstract
Bioavailabilities of vitamin A and E were examined in six healthy adult volunteers after daily administration of a multivitamin preparation including 4,000 IU of retinyl palmitate and 20mg of dl-α-tocopheryl acetate for 7 days. Daily changes in plasma retinol levels were shown by approximately 10% elevation from the baseline level after 7 days administration, while there were no significant changes were observed in both plasma retinol and tocopherol levels during 24 hours after the administration. A vitamin E preparation (100mg of d-α-tocopheryl acetate) was once administered in three volunteers at 7 days interval after administration of multivitamin preparation. An elevation of plasma a-tocopherol level (150% of baseline level) and a decrease of plasma γ-tocopherol level were documented at 10-12 hours.
