Abstract
The relations between riboflavin-and niacin-deficincy were tested with rabbits. In the riboflavin deficient animals, the urinary excretion of riboflavin was very small. In this case even when riboflavin was administered, the excretion was still low, and the riboflavin content in organs was less than that of control animals, while in niacin deficiency the urinary excretion of niacin decreased, and in niacin-and riboflavin-deficiency the excretion of the vitamins in urine considerably decreased. In the case of niacin deficiency, even when riboflavin was administered, riboflavin content in blood and organs was low as compared with that of control animals. These results suggest that niacin and riboflavin would compensate each other and exert synergetic actions in the consumption of the vitamins in the body. There may be some indivisible relationship between the two vitamins, since riboflavin deficiency is given rise to by niacin deficiency.
