The effect of niacin amide (50 to 100 mg) upon the renal function was observed, taking the glomerular filtration as a criterion. 1) In healthy persons, no noticeable change was brought about by the vitamin either in the filtration rate or in the urine flow. 2) In 4 out of 6 patients with renal or hepatic diseases the filtration rate was increased by administration of 100 mg niacin amide.
