In this paper authors investigated theoretically and experimentally the exciting forces and moment of a ship among waves without advance speed. The results of this investigation can be summarised as follows; (1) The exciting forces and moments of ship can be reduced by installation of bow or stern fin or bulb for desired wave length, and results of theoretical calculation fit well with experimental value quantitatively. (2) The heave and pitch displacements can also be reduced by diminuation of wave exciting forces and moments. (3) For heave and pitch displacements, the coincidence of theoretical and experimental value was not good but in tank-test results the pitching motion of the model ship extremely diminished among the wave of appropriate length.
