Applying the method developed by Suehiro, K. & Inoguchi, T. on the hull girder idealized as a beam set on an elastic foundation, we deduced a new method of calculation of deflection of a ship due to temperature differences in a cross section. After some and systematic numerical calculations, we obtained the following results: (1) The magnitude of the deflection of a ship due to temperature differences will reduce by the effect of the change of distribution pattern of buoyancy casued by the deflection itself. (2) The effect of the distribution pattern of temperature differences in a cross section of a ship upon the magnitude of the deflection is small so far as the linear distribution pattern and the two step distribution pattern are concerned. (3) The charts by which the magnitude of the deflection due to temperature differences can be estimated were shown. Using these charts, we can obtaine the approximate value of the deflection with some from 10 to 20% of the error.
