In this paper, a method to calculate the natural vibration of trapezoidal stiffened plates appling Rayleigh-Ritz method is proposed, and the several numerical calculations are carried out to investigate the vibratory characteristics of trapezoidal stiffend plates. The main conclusions obtained in this paper are as follows; (1) The natural vibrations of trapezoidal stiffened plates calculated by present method have a good agreement with the experimental results. Then it can be considered that the propriety of present method is confirmed. (2) When the natural vibration of triangular stiffened plates reinforced by the stiffeners in one direction is calculated by using the present method, it is desirable that the direction of stiffeners is made in accordance with the x axis. (3) A method to determine the dimension of rectangular stiffened plates equivalent to the 1st order natural vibration of trapezoidal stiffened plates is also proposed. By using this results, the 1st order natural frequency of trapezoidal stiffened plates can be estimated by calculating the nutural frequency of rectangular stiffened plates.
