A new creation has to satisfy the functional and performance requirements as intended during the initial planning stage. However, the recent consumer trends show a relatively high level of sensitivity of factors identified with human feelings, emotions and changing life-styles. In the design of ships also, especially the ship types such as cruise ships built for the purpose of leisure activities, the concept and design of the form or style become increasingly important from the initial planning stage itself. Ship designs with beautiful forms that can attract people and leave an impact in their minds are believed to be a very important factor for the future design philosophy. The above reasoning is equally important in the design of ships used entirely as a means of economic infrastructure such as merchant ships which specialize in material transportation, as well. It is believed that a renewed concept in the style design of industrial products is necessary for the enrichment of human life. After a thorough consideration of these points, the present paper establishes a method of systematic analysis of the various design information which was gathered from an opinion survey conducted among a sample population about the relationship between the form designs and the most attention receiving points of some type ship profiles.
