The book People of Fuku, a folklore part of History of the City of Fukuoka (2010), forces us to reconsider what folklore is. Reference to the idea of habitus is useful. Habitus can be translated as preparation or potentiality in its theological origin, useful for discussing folklore. We noticed that intervention of Hitotonari (personality) is necessary to actualize such potentialities. Each person has his or her own and particular Hitotonari. To understand Hitotonari, therefore, folklorists collect life history as the art of living through the detailed description.
