Abstract

The volatility of ethylenediamine from aminophylline preparations was studied. Ethylenediamine liberated from aminophylline tablets was characterized as dibenzo [f, h] quinoxaline. The liberation of ethylenediamine from aminophylline JP and aminophylline tablets could be regarded as a pseudo first-order reaction at 60°C, 70°C, 80°C, 90°C and 100°C. The Arrhenius plots of log k_obs. vs. 1/T were almost linear in the temperature range of 70-100°C.
