Structures of a series of dehydrogenation products of tuberostemonine have been advanced based on the evidence obtained from their ultraviolet, infrared, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra.
The structure (IXa or IXb) for tuberostemonine has been deduced from the structures of these dehydrogenation products and the results obtained by physicochemical studies of the alkaloid.
