Antimicrobial activities of some aminosteroid compounds were tested. Among the new compounds, 17β-amino-3, 5-androstadiene, 17β-amino-5-androstene, and their salts showed inhibition at 5-10 μg/ml against gram-positive bacteria, at 50-100 μg/ml against gram-negative bacteria, at 1-5 μg/ml against Mycobacterium, at 1 μg/ml against Candida albicans, at 1 μg/ml against Penicillium chrysogenum and Penicillium citrinum, and at 10 μg/ml against Gibberella fujikuroi and other fungi. The relationship between structure and antimicrobial activities is discussed.
