A new iridoid glucoside (I), named villoside, was isolated as its tetraacetate (IV), C24H34O12, mp 112-113°, together with loganin and morroniside from the methanol extract of the underground portion of Patrinia villosa Juss. (Valerianaceae). The structure of villoside was established as I by the spectral and chemical data.
