Abstract

Three new sesquiterpenes, namely, O-methylcacaldienol (I), mp 76 -78°, C₁₆H₁₆O₂, O-methyldehydronorcacalol (II), mp 168°, C₁₅H₁₈O₃, and cacalonol (III), mp 201 -203°, C₁₅H₁₄O₃, were isolated from Cacalia auriculata DC. var. kamtschatica (MAXIM.) MATSUMURA (Japanese name, "Mimikohmori") (Compositae) and their structures were elucidated. O-Methyldehydrocacalol (IV), β-amyrin (V), and phytol (VI) were also isolated, and β-sitosterol (VII), stigmasterol (VIII), and campesterol were detected by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry.
