Abstract
The steam volatile oil of Polygonum reynoutria MAKINO from Nara Prefecture was examined. The yield of leaf oil was about 0.004%, oil of stem was 0.003%, and that of root stock was 0.005%. The steam volatile oils were separated into individual components by the combination of chemical method and preparative gas chromatography or elution chromatography. Seventy-one compounds in the oil have been characterized.
