Synthesis of Mercury, Cadmium and Zinc Complxes of Cytosine

Abstract

Mercury, cadmium, and zinc complexes of cytosine and isocytosine were synthesized from methanol solution. The coordination site of the ligands was examined by means of infrared, proton magnetic resonance, and mass spectroscopic analyses. Based on these data, it was concluded that metals were coordinated at N(3), N(1), or NH₂ of cytosine and isocytosine, and that composition of the comp1exes was either a 1 : 1 or 2 : 1 ratio of the ligand to the metal.
