Corresponding to the recent increase in consumption of generic drugs, we conducted a ques-tionnaire survey of generic drugs to pharmacy visitors asking if they recognized the name of the generic drugs and their reasons for changing from the original drugs to generic medicine besides other items. The main topic of the survey was angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB): the medicine for treating high blood pressure. We surveyed visitors to five Chuo Medicine pharmacies in Aomori city from February 6 to April 27, 2018, and obtained 1713 responses. The person who knew the word “generic drugs” reached about 90%, and the person who had changed an original drug to a generic drug was about 60%. As a result, the situation that the respondents using generic drugs widely became clear. On the other hand, the recognition rate of the name of ARB, particularly generic drugs, was low; therefore, we consider most people are not concerned with an individual product. The most frequently observed reason for changing to a generic drug was a recommenda-tion by the pharmacy. We think that pharmacists significantly influence the choice of generic drugs; therefore, the pharmacist's role will become more critical in that the patients are willing to know an individual product of the medicine.

As the first branding project from Aomori University Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, public lectures on yakuzen (medicinal cuisine) were planned. The theme is quite unique to the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and in line with the concept yakushokudogen, which means "a healthy diet leads to a healthy body." It was considered that the lectures would help the University’s brand building,as its characteristics and attractiveness as a university rooted in the community would be recognized by the people of Aomori. Therefore,a total of three lectures were held, where yakuzen dishes using commonly-eaten food were offered to the participants, who were provided with an explanation of the unexpected health effects of familiar foods on illnesses occurring from autumn to winter, and the prevention of them.

The area around "Akanesawa no Akaiwa", a natural monument designated by Aomori Prefec-ture, in Imabetsu Town was a place that produced high-quality red soil from the Jomon period to the Edo period. The Hirosaki clan placed officials, mined and refined red soil, and presented it to the Edo Shogunate as red pigment Bengara(red iron oxide). When the Hirosaki clan mined red soil, it appointed magistrates and dispatched officials and craftsmen to guardhouses. This paper summarizes about the management system, work details, and facilities and equipment at that time from the records of the Hirosaki clan's office diary.

On the occasion of the 2022 House of Councilors election, a student-led survey of approximately 1,000 Aomori University students was conducted in cooperation with NHK Aomori Broadcasting Station. The results showed that less than 40% of the students planned to vote, slightly lower than those who did not plan to vote. However top reasons for not voting were "busy" and "lack of interest in politics and elections", many students also cited reasons such as "it is difficult to understand the policies of political parties and candidates" and "policies for the youth are not communicated." In addition, many young people who planned to vote also thought that their own voting behavior would not change the world, and on the surface, their actions and thoughts seemed to contradict each other. As a result of the series of activities, which were reported to the class, the students showed a marked increase in interest in politics and elections, providing valuable information and perspectives for improving the future voter turnout of "Generation Z".
