The Center for Language Education at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan has introduced innovative models for bilingual course exchanges, culminating in the establishment of the Japanese-English Communication Skills (JECS) course in the Fall of 2020. Alongside other curricular efforts at APU to promote multiculturalism, the JECS course was created in part to foster greater interaction across the gap separating domestic and international students. This study is the first to offer data and analysis on the JECS course. The authors, who were instructors of the course in its third iteration, used a qualitative approach to analyze student reflections. They present nine themes of student experiences that provide insights into unique classroom interactions, such as those between students of different language proficiency levels and cultural backgrounds, occurring in a multilingual space. Based on findings from student reflections, the JECS course created a unique multilingual and multicultural classroom environment that fostered meaningful interaction and collaboration among students of different backgrounds and proficiency levels. It also allowed for the development of critical thinking, language skills, self-directed learning, and intercultural understanding. This study hopes to contribute to the discourse and qualitative data on exchange courses among educators and policymakers working at universities in Japan.

Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) uniquely hosts nearly equal proportions of Japanese and international students, giving the opportunity for shared language classes (i.e., English-Japanese exchange classes). This research paper provides an analysis of survey results conducted during the Spring 2023 semester, investigating the perceptions of students and educators regarding exchange classes at APU. Using a mixed-method approach, the survey examined enjoyment, significance, ideal frequency, and scheduling methods, in addition to gauging satisfaction and pinpointing areas of discontent. The dataset includes feedback from 30 language educators from both the English and Japanese sections of the Center for Language Education at APU, as well as from 195 language students, with roughly equal numbers from both English-based and Japanese-based sections. Based on the analysis, students displayed greater enthusiasm for language exchange classes compared to teachers. This paper offers insights that the Center for Language Education, which encompasses both English and Japanese language courses, can use to enhance its language exchange class offerings.

留学生を対象とした大学の日本語授業において、意義のある「問い」を立てる「探究活動」プロジェクト を行う中で、問いやその評価について教員が学び、教育活動の改善を通して学生が良質な問いを立てられる ようになるための学習デザインの確立を目指した。具体的には、「質問づくり」の練習を重ね、「良い問い」 について学生同士で話し合ったり、問いを評価するルーブリックを作ったりする活動を行った。本研究では、 「問う力」を養成する意義について、履修生に対する修了直後のアンケート、修了後半年以上経過した元履 修生に対するアンケートおよびインタビューを実施し、「問い」の評価基準の変化と学生の成長という観点 から分析を行った。その結果、学生が考える「良い問い」が、形式重視の質問から思考を促す質問に変化し たことがわかった。また、学生は探究活動を通して、言語能力の向上だけでなく、思考力が身に付いたと認 識していた。このことから、大学の日本語授業において「問う力」を養成するために行う活動は学生の言語 能力と思考力の向上を促すという意義が確認できた。

　現代中国語において、程度副詞は数が多く、使用頻度も高く、使用範囲が広いと同時に、中国語教育上の 難点の一つでもある。王力氏が程度副詞を絶対的程度副詞と相対的程度副詞に分類して以来、多くの学者が この枠組の下で程度副詞について議論を行った。しかし、多くの研究は話し言葉や小説をコーパスデータと して使用し、取り上げた用例には常に口語的な要素が含まれている。また異なる文体での程度副詞の使い分 けを分析した研究は多くない。陳羽、徐素萍（2019）は、程度副詞が話し言葉と書面語で使用頻度と使用レ ベルに差があることを指摘し、典型的な書面語の中では出現頻度は明らかに低いことを述べている。李宇鳳 （2007）は、実際のデータを調査することにより、程度副詞が主に相互的なコメント文脈で用いられると指 摘している。 　本研究は、さらに程度副詞が典型的な書面語での使用頻度が低いことを明らかにするために、中国語公共 サインを典型的な書面語の代表として、中国大陸と台湾の一定数量の中国語公共サインの実例を収集し、考 察した。また、程度副詞と中国語公共サインの特徴を分析した上で、程度副詞と中国語公共サインのテキス ト的な特徴が一致せず、中国語公共サインでの程度副詞の使用頻度が低く、使用範囲が狭いという仮説を提 起した。そして、中国語公共サインの例に基づいて、この仮説を証明する。同時に、日本で現れた中国語公 共サインについても一定範囲の考察を行った。その上で、現代中国語書面語教育における程度副詞の位置及 び教育上の注意事項についても探究した。
