At present, research activities are underway to further accelerate the real-world applications of AI Artificial In telligence hardware by providing AI processing not only to the cloud side but also to the terminal (edge) side. In this paper, I outline the prospects for circuit design (called nonvolatile logic) with a built-in nonvolatile storage function in the arithmetic circuit with regard to a problem and its impact for edge AI hardware realization.

In recent years, the digitization of industry and society has been advancing, and the technology of artificial intelligence (AI) has been used to support human intellectual activities in various domains. AI is expected to be applied to project management (PM), which is a typical human intellectual activity. On the other hand, PM for AI system development is becoming an urgent issue. In this paper, the issues and research trends in both the application of AI to PM and PM for AI system development are explained.

For audio content security, such as audio content protection, as well as speech tampering detection, audio information hiding (AIH) techniques are attracting considerable attention. Ten years have passed since our research group started attempring to resolve many issues in AIH projects. In this paper, we introduce the basis of AIH, important knowledge of human hearing characteristics effective in realigning AIH, and typical methods of AIH. Then, AIH methods based on cochlear delay characteristics, based on adaptive phase modulation, and singular spectrum analysis proposed by the anthor's research group are also introduced. In addition, we present the research topic of speech tampering detection for secure speech communications, which is one of the current issues in speech technology.

In software development implemented the functional safety standards, the development effort for conforming to enforcement requirements increases in proportion to the development scale in order to ensure the accuracy, efficiency, validity, and so on of implementation of the safety requirements. This situation indirectly strains indirectly the software development effort. In this paper, we discuss the present situation and practical issues on software development implementing the functional safety standards, and consider the countermeasures, and introduce their effectiveness.

It is crucial to collect, transmit, and share disaster-related information quickly and accurately to minimize damage in the event of a disaster. From this point of view, the use of social media during disasters is attracting more attention lately. In recent years, the number of administrative agencies utilizing or considering the use of social media for the transmission and collection of disaster-related information has been increasing. The number of social media posts increases explosively at the time of a disaster, but it has been pointed out that necessary information is buried, and rumor and inaccurate information spread rapidly and widely. In this paper, we introduce examples of the use of social media during disasters and related research trends. Moreover, in this paper, several of the results of our studies on the utilization of Twitter at the time of a disaster are introduced.

In 2015, the United Nations adopted the resolution “Transforming our world<mi>:<mi>the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, which defined “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).” SDGs consists of 17 goals and 169 targets, One of the action plans is listed at “Goal 16 Target 16.9,” which clearly stares “By 2030, provide legal identity for all, including birth registration.” This target is aimed at establishing a society that provides various public services. A fingerprint identification technology is considered as one of the technologies that can contribute to achieving a reliable civil registration and management system. National ID systems utilizing fingerprint identification technology are currently installed into many countries. However, the fact of the matter is that many national ID systems do not include newborn children, infants, or young children less than 5 years of age within their target age range. In this report, research on expanding the capability of fingerprint identification technology to include neonates soon after delivery in order to realize SDGs Target 16.9 is descrived.

The infrastructure of broadcasting and communication, such as 8KTV and 5G communication, is becoming more and more important just before the Tokyo Games of the XXXII Olympiad and Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. In particular, 8KTV is expected to develop as ultimate-quality image media with high definition, high presence, and multiple viewpoints. On the other hand, 80 years have passed since the start of experimental television broadcasting in 1939, and 66 years have passed since terrestrial television was started in 1953. Thus, I would like to look back on the development of TV broadcasting technology and think about image quality assessment technology.
