Polypeptides and protenoids which is a precursors of protein are synthesized in molten state of simple organic compounds. In this study, chemical properties of polypeptides and protenoids at different reaction conditions were determined. In addition, abilities of microsphere formation from those peptides and protenoids were also discussed.

Concentrations of radiocesium in variety of agricultural crops and fruits have been studied. It was found that translocation of the nuclide from old leaves to new leaves or fruits were found to be important in understanding the high concentration of radiocesium in certain species.

Radioactive noble gases may be emitted by the accident of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power station after the 3.11 earthquake. We purposed to detect any increase of radioactive noble gases by using Quadru-pole mass spectrometer. We preliminary found that the Ar-41, Ar-39, Kr-85 and Xe-133 increased ten times or much higher than those pre-earthquake atmospheric abundances. This increase of radioactive and/or radiogenic (stable) noble gases may be attributed to the explosion of reactor.

In the Precambrian, parts of the Oklo uranium deposits of the Republic of Gabon, central Africa, functioned as natural fission reactors. Many elements in the Oklo uranium deposits show variations in isotopic composition caused by a combination of nuclear fission reactions. Isotopic studies provide useful information to understand the behavior of radionuclides in geological media. In this talk, I present the long-termed geochemical behavior of radioactive Cs studied from the Ba isotopic variations

Environmental behavior of radioactive Cs in the fallout from the accident of Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant has been studied by measuring its spacial distribution on/in trees, plants, and surface soil covered with plants using autoradiography analysis. The autoradiography analyses showed that radioactive Cs was distributed on the branch and leaves of trees that were present at the accident, and that only small fraction may be transported to new branch and leaves grew after the accident. Radioactive Cs was present on the grass and rice plant on the soils, but not in root of the plant and the surrounding soil, indicating that the radioactive Cs was deposited on the grass and the rice plant and was not penetrated into soil layer from the ground surface so far. These results indicate that trees and plant would be the host of the fallout Cs and act as important role for retardation of the fallout Cs deposited.

Hydrotalcite is an anion exchanger, having layered structure like cationic clay minerals. Adsorption behavior of fission-derived pertechnetate(VII) anion onto hydrotalcite was studied from various solutions bearing humic acid. The partition coefficient of Tc-99 radiotracer indicated that interaction between deprotonated humate and cationic surface of hydrotalcite could compete with pertechnetate adsorption. In the series of experiments were found the other factors influencing the adsorption behavior were pH, concentration of coexisting salt, and hydrotalcite loading.

Safety assessment for radioacitive waste disposal will be needed to extend over a long period of time in case of Long-lived nuclide. So that the results of safety assessment will includes some uncertainty. It is important to deal with those uncertainty, to calculate with thorough conservative assamptions, and to with realistic assamptions. It is thought that a geochemical opinion, various componet tests, and the use for the natural analogue data etc. are useful though the uncertainty is left ensuring the realistic assumption.
