A remote-controlled neutron collimator system and a 2-dimensional movement stand have been developed for beam tests of neutron detectors Both collimator system and movement stand employ motorized linear stages. Each motor driver is controlled by one microcomputer, and thus a PC based control program allows users to control the whole axes simultaneously.
The construction and installation of the Higher-Order-Filter Velocity Selector (HOF-VS) for thermal neutrons are reported. The test results show that the HOF-VS continuously covers the neutron wavelength range from 1.1 to 2.6Å and its performances are as good as or even superior to the conventional PG filter. The variable tunability of the higher order suppression using this HOF-VS should lender an important additional flexibility in the neutron triple-axis spectroscopy.
