The purpose of this study was to obtain intention and the issue to apply Usui's Nursing Theory and knowledge for applying the theory in critical care nursing, which easily loses its identity as nursing because of the influence of medical science.
In this study, Usui's Nursing Theory, based on Nightingale's Theory, assessed its usefulness by researcher, was applied case studies in collaboration with nurses group in critical care nursing, and the nature of transformation of nurse's and researcher's recognition through case studies was analyzed.
The following are major three outcomes of case studies as part one by qualitative analysis of nurse's recognition as a whole through case studies.
1)Nurse's recognition as a whole was gradually unified on nursing based on the theory to seize the phenomenon of nursing and developed for solving day-to-day problems.
2)Intention of applying Usui's Nursing Theory in critical care nursing is to elevate their professionalism as a nurse by reflect on themselves, make them feel satisfaction with their mission of nursing, develop their capability of applying nursing theory to critical care nursing, and perform their ability as a nurse. The development of recognition as an individual nurse changes nurses group as a whole in critical care nursing also provide assiduous and caring nursing to patients.
3)Usui's Nursing Theory requires a lot of training for recognition of nurses and practical use with complete control to develop recognition.

The purpose of this study was to obtain knowledge for applying the nursing theory in critical care nursing. The previous report(part 1)shows the nature of transformation of nurse's as a whole and researcher's recognition through the case studies by applying Usui's Nursing Theory in collaboration with nurses group in the field of critical care nursing.
This report shows the methodological knowledge for applying Usui's Nursing Theory in critical care nursing through the case studies by qualitative analysis of the interaction between nurses and researcher. The following are two outcomes of case studies.
1)Transformation and development of nurse's recognition was brought by interaction between two diffident recognitions, the former is recognition of nurse, who have a rich images of patients, and the latter is recognition of researcher, who is capable of drawing many-sided image of patients from nurse's recognition by using general nursing theory.
2)In order to apply Usui's Nursing Theory in critical care nursing, it is useful to practice nursing by determining the direction for solving nursing and patients problems by illuminating with nursing theory, then to restruct the practice and evaluate the practice. It is also important of stimulation with nurses among different study levels for practice and to secure condition of functioning with individual and working environment.

he aim of this study is to clarify the methods of interpretation and actions in regards to circumstances surrounding the use of physical restraint by nurses working in ICUs while conducting patient management. With five ICU nurses as research participants, a qualitative analysis was conducted based on participant observation and semi structured interviews.
The results of the analysis showed that physical restraint exists as one form of patient management in the ICU and that the circumstances in the ICU influence the decisions and actions of nurses regarding the use of physical restraint. Regarding judgment and action pertaining to physical restraint, the categories extrapolated were:grasping the circumstances of the ICU by listening, interpreting the circumstances of the ICU by the movements of nurses, making judgments based on a combination of subjective observations and objective observations, and circumstances of the ICU influence the actions of nurses. And regarding physical restraint, the following factors were particularly found to be significant influences:the responsibility of nurses directly assigned to patients and fulfilling the role of a member nurse.
