We developed a novel hypochlorous acid (HOCl) solution with the following physico-chemical properties: pH5.0-6.5, extremely low levels of total ions (<25mg/L) including Na+ and electroconductivity (<10µs/cm) and examined HOCl solution with 30mg/L available chlorine concentration (ACC) for the following: 1) inactivating effects of its aerial spraying on aerially-floating Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli phage MS2, 2) in vitro inactivating effect on SARS-CoV-2 and 3) inhalation test using rats in which a maximum of 5000 mg/m
3 of high ACC (1,000mg/L) HOCl solution was aerially sprayed. Results showed that 1) over 99.9% of aerial floating S. aureus and E. coli phage MS2 were killed and inactivated respectively, 2) over 99.9% of SARS-CoV-2 were inactivated, and 3) no marked toxicity on rats was observed in the inhalation test.
