7 esters, 9 anilides and amide of 11-iodo-10-undecynoic acid were synthesized in our laboratory to measure their fungistatic, bacteriostatic and therapeutic activities. Amide and phenyl ester showed marked antifungal activities, especially against Trichophyton asteroides at the concentration of 2 and 5 mcg/ml, respectively. All anilides had no antifungal activity and all compounds tested had almost no antibacterial activity.
In comparative in vivo stndies by Kaken-method using experimental trichophytosis on guinea pigs, phenyl ester showed signiffcant therapeutic activities at the concentration of 0.5 % in tincture, it was superior than that of 11-iodo-10-undecynoic acid at the same concentration and also that of 5% tincture of undecylenic acid which is widely used in clinic. No ill effect was observed even if phenyl ester was used at the concentration of 1 % in alcohol.
