Building up trust between teachers and pupils based on human relations is one of the very important themes in the educational policy of today's Japan. In this paper this is mainly interpreted as a problem of teachers mind.

Since the initial introduction of nondirective counseling there have been experiments for introducing its thought and method on the educational scene in Japan. But in this paper its thought and method are mainly based on Naikan Therapy.

Naikan means “introspection” in English. Naikan Therapy is a form of psychological treatment practiced in Japan over the past fifty years.

The author presents the effect of Naikan Therapy on Japanese educational practice, through the consideration of outline and method of Naikan Therapy, and application of teachers seminar.

As a result, it is hoped that many teachers experience Naikan Therapy in Japan.
